The Raptus Trailer MUSIC

Image
Part of my USP is the odd choice in music. The music is symbolic of the blend between fantasy and horror, by having music that combines the two genres: Horror: Electronic Darkwave Fantasy: Progressive Rock All the music is created by me, to avoid copyright and to emphasize that this is my movie and no one else. The music will fit the levels of insanity that this film contains and will help to pump up the audience and get them excited for it. This will hopefully make the film stick out and become more memorable. https://soundcloud.com/user-95807666/cutting-the-cliff https://soundcloud.com/user-95807666/losing-his-sanity https://soundcloud.com/user-95807666/monsters-on-the-lakeside Music I listened to in deciding for this choice of music included many horror soundtracks like Halloween, Saw and A Nightmare on Elm Street. I also returned to personal music I like such as Genesis, Pink Floyd and Brian Eno. The inclusion of music inspired by artists I like will give the fi...

FILMS THAT INSPIRED THE RAPTUS

Image
Films that have helped inspire The Raptus: The Exorcist: Parts of the raptus that were inspired by the exorcist were the psychological scares, the multiple characters and grounding the supernatural in reality, making it more believable and terrifying. The gothic look is something else about the film that I like.  The concept of demons are another influence, and the implications of it being more a mental concern than a religious one. The Machinist: Influences from the machinist was the main character in general. The idea of a likable and sympathetic character, whom by the end is revealed to have done terrible things, leading the audience to question whether or not they should follow this character. The imaginary friend Ivan is a big influence for the legion, especially Foureyes, who wears steamnpunk goggles reminiscent of the factory setting in the machinist. Se7en: The mystery story is a huge staple of thriller and se7en was a favourite of mine, not only is th...

THE RAPTUS PLOT

THE RAPTUS PLOT: JUDE, AN EX COP WHO HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM JAIL AFTER AN UNKNOWN CRIME HE COMMITED. HE RETURNS HOME AND IS TRYING TO GET ON WITH HIS LIFE, LISTENING TO THE MUSIC HE WOULD MAKE, WATCHING THE FILMS HE WOULD MAKE. HE IS OFFERED HELP FROM HIS KIND OLD NEIGHBOUR, BUT HE IGNORES HIM THROUGHOUT MOST OF THE MOVIE.  UNTIL HE STARTS GETTING HARRASSED BY A GANG WHO CALL THEMSELVES THE LEGION. BASIC LETTERS, BECOME PEOPLE WATCHING HIM ON THE STREET (THOUGH WE ARE UNSURE IF THEY’RE MEMBERS OF THE LEGION OR INNOCENT BISTANDERS WHO KNOW ABOUT THE CRIME HE COMMITED), EVENTUALLY PEOPLE START MAKING PHONE CALLS, THEN SUDDENLY HE GETS VISITED BY A MAN IN A TERRIFYING MASK (RAPTUS). HE SAYS HE DOESN’T WANT TO KILL HIM AS HE PERSONALLY WANTS HIM TO LEARN A LESSON. IT INFLUENCES HIS SUBCONSCIOUS TO THE POINT THAT HE HAS TERRIFYING HALLUCINAGENIC NIGHTMARES ABOUT THE MAN. HE GOES TO THE POLICE BUT THEY SAY THEY HAVE NO EVIDENCE TO HELP HIS CASE (WE DON’T KNOW WHETHER THEY LEGIT CAN’T...

Magazine Analysis

Image
COLOUR: The colours are mostly dull greys/blacks in order to contrast the image of the colourful Captain America dressed in red, white and blue. It’s also there to connote the seriousness of the film they’re advertising, which is a lot more serious and gritty than the first Captain America. Another notable colour is the colour of the font, which is white and red also. This is to help the brand stand out so you know what it is you’re buying and to advertise other elements within the magazine.  Red also connotes danger, which fits the action genre of Captain America: the winter soldier. FONT: The font is mainly san serif in order to make it more appealing to the general market of the superhero fandom, whom which may not be into classy material and more iconic characters. With this in mind, san serif font is used to make everything stand out, very in your face like an explosion. IMAGERY: There is only one main image and that image is a medium shot of the star of the movie. ...

JOE Poster

Image
The font is colourful to connote the comedic side of the film and to compensate for how dark the rest of the poster is. It contrasts with the black, making all details easy to read. Loser and Joe are coloured pink as pink is considered not very cool for a male character, fitting the word "loser" and connoting that the main character either isn't cool or doesn't fit in with the rest. The main title has a punchline in the sense that the title is so long that it doesn't fit on the poster. The tagline helps amplify the joke. This meta joke will make most people laugh, no matter the audience. The title itself is similar to another black comedy: Dr Strangelove or: How i learned to stop worrying and love the bomb. This helps connote the kind of cynical humour there is. The main image is a compilation of all the characters outside of Joe, because the whole point is that Joe is an outcast that you won't notice in a school. He's a nobody. This is set to a...

ULTRA FILM ANALYSIS

Image
COLOUR SCHEME: The colour scheme is basically black and red, this is to appeal to the audience I created with my film “JOE!” which is mostly teenagers. So I thought I’d go with a dark colour palette that is considered “edgy” by the teenage demographic.  MAIN IMAGE: The main image is ripped right from the title sequence; to suit the style of the magazine, I made the picture darker as the image in the film is rather bright. The strapline of the main image stays in style of the film’s subtitle, which can be seen as both a punchline and a description of what you can expect on the inside.  The main image is also leaning to the bottom right, which symbolizes how abnormal Joe is as most magazines have the image in the center. INSTITUTIONAL INFORMATION: Institutional information like the price, the issue number, a website link and a barcode has been included to create the illusion of this picture being an authentic magazine. The price is lower than a typical magazine (most m...
